After three Mk1 escort projects in my early years i decided to do something a bit different, i saw somewhere a caterham 7 with a bike engine. 0-60 in 4 seconds. when i first saw this it got me thinking what car can i use that is light but also cheap as i don't have C7 money then i remembered the reliant kitten, yes that could fit the bill i thought, so in the latter months of 07 i went with my dad to collect my grotty brown reliant kitten which soon inherited the name ( poo nut ) oh my, what have i done.
Time to choose an engine, so the task began to find a suitable power plant which i could couple to a car gearbox as i wanted a reverse gear and again i don't have loads of money for special 1 offs i looked at the BMW k engines but they are to wide so it moved onto the Kawasaki 4 stroke jet ski engine but there was to much engineering involved and i don't want this to end up like something out of scrap heap challenge.then reading some posts on the r3w site a guy was saying if he was going to use a different engine in his kitten he would use a Suzuki swift gti with a SJ gearbox. 100 bhp twin cam 1300cc OK its not a hayabusa engine but it does have potential so i located an engine and box from different places.
